Hovis network transformation programme

• Facilitated a complex, cross-functional business transformation programme across the entire Hovis distribution network, realising multi-million-pound benefits.

• Hovis / Premier Foods strategically opted out of a £75 million contract supplying the COOP supermarket chain.

• The scope of the programme included:

  • 4 distribution centre site closures.

  • 2 third party out-base start-ups.

  • Reconfiguration of the entire store delivery network (from 8400 to 4500 delivery points and removal of 142 store delivery routes).

  • A full organisational restructure.

  • An exit programme with reduced headcount of over 500.

  • Renegotiated staff terms & conditions at remaining sites.

• The programme was extremely challenging as the time-scales were extremely tight, however, I delivered it ahead of the required time-scales, within costs and several million pounds above the budgeted benefits.
